Streaming Mesh version 1.6 has been released in Dec. 2 2002.
The 3D mesh simplification method is using Mesh Simplification with Feature Detection.

Streaming Mesh is a new 3D model format for Internet Graphics. It currently contains two programs, the generator and viewer. All the codes are written in Java^TM Programming Language, and the 3D graphics rendering is done by jGL - 3D Graphics Library for Java, so both of the programs can be run on Java^TM2 platform and the previous version of Java^TM. You can use the generator to generate the Streaming Mesh from a 2-manifold 3D model. Or, use the viewer to see the simplified 3D model first, then reconstruct the original model by rolling the scrollbar. If you have any problem, please mail to robin@is.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp.

The compilers on each platform are Java2 SDK, Standard Edition, v 1.4.1_01 ( or Java SDK 1.1.8_008 ) and Java2 SDK, Enterprise Edition, v 1.3.1 on SUN Solaris 7/8/9 and Microsoft Windows 98/NT/2K/ME/XP with Cygwin 1.3.17.

NOTICE: Streaming Mesh Viewer with QoS-like Control needs to talk with a servlet on the server side via port 8080, it maybe can not be used on some mirror sites. Please use /~robin/jSM/.
